Metal boxes: selection guide
Fourgroup accessories also include metal boxes for electrical panels which, thanks to their recistance, adaptability and ease of use, are particularly suitable to meet any installation requirement. These special boxes can be customized according to your needs, thus offering better electrical distribution, as well as greater efficiency, safety and protection.
What a metal box is for
The metal box, or junction box, is in practice the housing of the electrical panel from which the derivations depart that send the current to other directions of the plant. These derivations branch off from wells of closed line with cover. This kind of box is formed by a monoblock structure welded in sheet steel, painted with thermosetting powders, and must have a high degree of IP protection. Inside it are made the various connections that allow the electrical systems to work. In fact, a too full box would not allow a good expansion of the heat and, therefore, a good processing. For this reason, it is important not only to decide the size of the metal boxes taking into consideration their needs and the quantity of wires to be inserted inside them, but also the degree of protection according to the environment in which the box will be installed for the purpose of avoid problems of short circuits and contacts between the various cables.
What is a control panel
But what exactly are the control panels that are inside the metal boxes? Let’s explain it… The electrical panel is that part of an electrical system, or rather the heart that feeds the circuits for sockets, utilities, light points, etc. From here, in practice, the branches that transmit current to the junction boxes and to each connected electrical device start, guaranteeing the distribution of electricity and, at the same time, protecting people from serious accidents in case of emergencies, blackouts, short-circuits or contacts with bare cables.
