Generators: what are and what are made for

Gen sets are machines made up of a thermal combustion engine which, when coupled to an electric generator, generate continous or alternating electricity independently, in the event of faults or disruptions of the public network. The gen set mainly serves to ensure continuous electrical current not only to companies and offices but also to homes and public facilites, if the conventional network is damaged or absent. They are therefore equipped not only with infrastructures of a certain importance, hospitals or airports but also with construction sites, in order to work independently for the construction of buildings of all kinds, or those who work in the commercial sector for the construction of fairs, stands and events.

How they works

The purpose of generators is to ensure mechanical electrical energy by exploiting magnetic energy thanks to an alternator. They work by taking over the conventional network in an emergency, such as those in hospitals or other public facilities, or in a continuous electricity, such as those used during fairs and events or on construction sites. Their engine can be powered by diesel, petrol or LPG, but there are also innovative models equipped with photovoltaic panels to recharge the batteries or that are remotely managed via the App.

How many types exist?

There are several models of generator sets that are used according to various needs. On the market you can also find silenced gen sets, that are with soundproof generator, specific for public places or outdoor activities.Take a look at our web-site (www.fourgroup.it) where you will find various models of generator sets including the FAST series air cooled open-air generator or the liquid-cooled generator set from the MISTRAL series.
